Trent Reznor’s new album, "The Fragile," (a double cd) should be renamed "The Third and Fourth parts of a disgruntled teenager’s angst-ridden tortured existence – a diary of Trent Reznor." His colorful array of themes spread across the incredible range between "The world is dirty and evil: to "People are dirty and evil." Such depth is only augmented by our little "techno-genius’s" use of static and beyond brain shattering, annoying sonic shells as musical elements. After three minute of climaxing, composed of about perhaps seven layers chock-full of aneurysm-inducing fun, Trent starts his little ditty with lyrical genius capable of making any small child just wanna kill puppies and siphon their brains. With songs like "the fragile" and "The Wretched" whatever happened to "The Exuberant" or "The Happy Man." I don’t know about you, but after years of sinister supplication from NIN, Trent Rexnor has proved to me that the gooey crap at the bottom of the dark and evil barrel is DEFINITELY the best! |
